Summer Fun

So here are some photos and stories about our fun summer that I have yet to blog about.

VEGAS, BABY

For Isaac and I's 7 year anniversary we drove to Las Vegas over Memorial Day, sans children. We left on Saturday morning and came back on Tuesday. We has so much fun looking at all the beautiful buildings and window shopping, (No, we did not gamble). Of course we enjoyed the fine dining there as well. By days end while most were just heading out to party we were headed in out of exhaustion. We stayed at the Excalibur, a family place until about 5 pm when the dancing girls came out, but it was a nice place. It was so nice to be together and have some much needed couple time. We hope to go back again someday, but will not be bringing out children anytime!

Family Reunion

In June the Stice family all gathered together for a couple days of fun and relaxation. We went up to Snowbird Ski resort and rode the tram up to the mountain top (only getting slightly sick on the way up and back. We also rode down the Alpine slide.

We also enjoyed a nice family BBQ at the Park. All us sisters and mom went out to lunch and ventured to the local craft fair. Then enjoyed an afternoon at Seven Peaks water park. The twins didn't care for the water much and preferred to stay in the pack in play where is was warm and dry. Eli on the other hand enjoyed the water very much. he even went on some of the kiddie sized slides. After that we Karaoked the night away at Nicks house and devouring lots of Papa Johns pizza.

On Saturday the boys took their outing to mini golf and arcades at Trafalga. While the girls and kiddos searched for buried treasure at Grandmas house. It was fun to watch the kids go to each destination and see their excitement grow as they got closer. Aunt Anna made a beautiful map for them to follow. When they found "X" they enjoyed to spoils of the treasure of candy, stickers and little toys. That evening the adults decided to go up to Sundance and enjoy adult conversation and a highly priced meal. It was fun to get to talk to my brothers and their wives without the interruption of the kids.

Overall I had an amazing time with my family and enjoyed seeing all my nephews and nieces playing together. I know that Eli, Oliver and Emerson enjoyed all the playing that happened and were totally worn out by weeks end. I look forward to doing this again!

I was called as the girls camp director for our ward girls camp this year. I had so much fun working with the YCLS and the other Young Women Leaders to prepare. I have always loved camp so this is a dream calling for me. It was a lot of work but well worth the effort and seeing how much fun the young women had.



The Wonderful Leaders decided that the YCLs and I needed an upgrade in our underwear department so they assisted up by buying the largest underwear they could find identifying it and flying it from the flag pole. Isaac was so psyched!

$2 Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point

In August Thanksgiving Point offered admission into any of their attraction for $2. I thought what a GREAT deal so my sister-in-law Jaehyun and I took all our kids to Farmland. (Of course I forgot this is Utah and everyone looks for good deals so it was WAY packed). The kids enjoyed seeing all the animals and we went on a wagon ride. When we finished we decided that we would never do that again without at least 2-3 more adults with us. We both needed a nap, but it was a lot of fun still.

Jon and Sunny and their 2 adorable daughters met us at One Man Band for lunch. It was nice to reunite with them and enjoy some yummy food. I think we have a match made in Heaven with their youngest and Emerson!

So that was our summer. What a crazy but fun summer it was!

KINDERGARTEN...Day 2

Eli is not very forth coming with information about what he did in school, so we ask him some different questions to try and get results. One particular question and answer is blog worthy :
Grandpa "Eli are there any pretty girls in your class?"
Eli (with a sly, almost seductive look) " OOOOHHHHHH yeah!"

He also is learning the letter "M" and today he tells me " 'M' just like a cheerleader, 'M', 'M', 'mmm', 'mmm', 'mmm'" complete with actions.

KINDERGARTEN...Day 1

SO it was an exciting day for the family yesterday (Aug 27th). Eli started Kindergarten. He is in the afternoon class with a new teacher named Mrs. Barlow.
He woke up earlier than normal and I made him his favorite Breakfast of cheesy eggs, toast and hot chocolate. He literally gulped the hot chocolate down and made himself sick, so he didn't finish the rest of his breakfast, but hey I tried.

He then took a bath and got dressed in his new shirt, shorts, underwear, socks and shoes. He has been patiently waiting for the day he could wear them and was ready to go by 9:00am. So we now had to keep him clean and busy until 12:15pm. This was quite the challenge. The morning dragged on, whiny twins and all but finally it was time to get in the van and go to school. We still had to take the long way since we were still early. (BTW there is no bus service for our school so it is my privilege to drive him everyday, carpool anyone???) We arrived at school to be greeted by cookies and tissues from the PTA. After a few photo shoots I was ready to leave my kid at the door of the school, but wait there was more...They invited parents and kids into the classroom for story time and a short activity. I had already said goodbye, so Eli saw me heading into the classroom and asked quite upset "Mom are you coming in?" Oh I felt the love. Anyway they read the "The Kissing Hand" and afterward we each traced out hand on a paper so we could both have a kissing hand. Finally it was time to say a final goodbye and I happily went on my way. No tears.
Before I knew it it was time to pick him up so with warm M&M cookies at home waiting for his arrival we all piled in the van and went to pick him up. Costco gave all the kids backpack with supplies, so out he came with his orange backpack and all smiles. When he got in the van I of course asked the standard questions "How was your day?" and "What did you learn?" Well he had a good day but he didnt get to play with the playground in the back or with the toys in the classroom and he "didn't learn anything, he learned about how to be a friend". We later found out that they focused on the letter "M". So overall I would say it was a successful day.

2 Lessons learned

For those of you not on Facebook:
The other day I learned two valuable lessons.
1. If I see one of my children, especially if it Oliver or Emerson, with a box of cereal seize it immediately!
2. Do not bother to vacuum stairs, because in less than 24 hours later they will be messier than they were in the first place. (see picture below)

Thanks to my friends they did point out the advantages to this escapade. Now I don't have to feed them snacks or breakfast the next morning, just let them loose on the stairs.
(My mom was a sweetie and re-vacuumed for me!

( I should also add that both twins in their greedy desire for more cereal came a tumbling down the stairs and Oliver is now sporting a nice rug burn on his cheek. So he did literally fall down the stairs)

He plays the Violin

Mom Frisbie brought out this antique family violin for Eli when she came out last week (see below post for fun happenings during their stay). So we decided to go ahead and get Eli into violin lessons to keep the excitement coming, luckily we have a fabulous violin player/teacher in our ward that was willing to take Eli on as a student. So yesterday we went and rented him an 1/8 size violin. He is so excited to play and has shown everyone that has stopped by. Today he learned how to properly hold the bow and violin. Here are a few pictures of him with his violin.

Frisbies Converge

Last week we had a mini Frisbie Family Reunion here is Utah. Mom and Dad Frisbie came from Illinois, Darryl came down from Idaho, and Isaac's Uncle Darryl, Aunt Kathy and cousins Tyler and Meghan came from California. We were able to go to the Oquirrh Moutain Temple Open house. It was a beautiful place and Eli loved being able see the inside of the temple, and the sealing rooms where people are married. He also enjoyed the cookie afterward. We finally got to see latest Harry Potter and go swimming at the Marriott pool. The twins didn't care for the pool too much and clung to me for dear life. They didn't mind soaking their feet in the hot tub, while mom soaked int he warmth. We also ventured into SLC to temple square and some of the best BBQ I have ever had at Pats.
On Thursday we went to Bridal Veil Falls where I tried not to freak out too much when my boys got close tot he water. Mom and Dad Frisbie stayed with the twins while the rest of us hiked up to the falls. It was beautiful and Eli loved playing in the pool of water at the bottom. Overall it was a tiring week but we enjoyed spending time with our family.
