Is it Spring YET?

We have been blessed with some warmer weather off and on recently, so when the weather is nice I try to get the boys outside and they love it! Here are a few pictures from our backyard adventures.

Hampers, Hampers EVERYWHERE!

The twins have discovers the collapsible hampers I have for laundry. The love to climb into them full or not. Their favorites include the one full of unmatched socks and Eli's little one that we put his clothes in. They also like to take them away from each other. I have to giggle when I see them. Below are some pictures from their adventures in a hamper.

Eli & Mommy Time

As I said in a previous post I received some Free Jazz tickets due to a ticket problem at the Lakers game. So I decided that Eli and I would go together. It was umbrella night, so right after we walked in we were given a huge umbrella to carry with us. When we walked into the arena area Eli was awe struck (the players were out practicing and he was impressed). So we found our seats, (nosebleed) but we didn't care. Right after tip off Eli wanted food, so we gathered up all our stuff and went down and got a drink and a pretzel. Then we watched the game for a little bit, and once again Eli wanted something, so back down we went again, for potty break, popcorn and churro. Then we stayed put for a little while and Eli made friends with the girl behind us and offered her some popcorn ( of course mom was not allowed to have any, so sad). We ended our food run with dippin dots.
The game was quite a contrast to the Lakers game. When the Alanta Hawks scored there wasnt a cheer in the crowd. Eli really enjoyed clapping and yelling defense. The Jazz won, by a lot and Eli and I ended the evening by driving around Temple Square. It was a nice evening out with my oldest son.

First Haircuts

I finally broke down and made myself cut the twins hair. It was getting a little long in the back and was covering their ears. Here are some pictures of this momentous occasion, and yes I kept the clippings.

This is Oliver, he is not too sure as to what is going on, but he looks handsome after I get the stray long hairs cut.

Emerson too wondered what Mommy was doing but was kept happy by the M&Ms that Grandma was handing his way.

Grandpa Gerber's watch

My Grandpa Gerber passed away about a year ago, and Eli has been fascinated with death and resurrection ever since. He continually asks when Grandpa is going to come back from Heaven. When we moved in with my parents, my mom gave Eli Grandpa Gerber's old watch, and Eli likes to wear it around on occasion. So the other night Eli was suppose to be in bed, when he came out upset about something. He went to Grandma and told her that the watch broke and showed it to her. (The band was broken). He asked Grandma if she could fix it. The he told her very seriously "Grandpa Gerber is not going to be very happy about this when he comes back from Heaven."
Mom and I had a good little giggle over this statement.

Eli's out of this World 5th Birthday!

Eli turned five in January, and of course this called for a celebration! So Mom planned a space birthday party. Eli wanted to play pin the tail on the donkey and have a pinata. Well mom didnt want to have 5 years olds swinging a bat at an unseen object so she made some mini pinatas for the kids to take home (making the mess elsewhere, ha ha ha). We also played pin the planet on the orbit and made alien masks for the kids to wear. Of course the went through all the activities super fast, so we finally gave in and let the kids play.

For his birthday Eli wanted chicken nuggets and apple pie. So a chicken nugget making mom, aunt Anna, Uncle Ben and Daddy went. All was going well until the grease bubbled over causing a small fire, but thankfully no one was hurt and no damage was done, except to the stove drip pan and lid used to quelch the flames (on a side note, make sure you turn off the burner, cause if you don't the flames will continue!) Anyway, dinner finished without disaster and Eli got some cool presents including a Flash costume, more play-doh, warm snugly blanket,other things I can't remember right now. But it was a fun evening spent with family!

Happy Birthday to Eli!

Eli wanted a cupcake maker for his birthday, but both mom and Grandma could bring themselves to do it, so grandma got stuff to make cupcakes and her and Eli make and decorated cupcakes together. (Grandpa later came through with a big remote control truck for Eli's enjoyment!, way to go Grandpa!)

GO LAKERS!

For Christmas I got Isaac tickets to a Lakers vs Jazz game at the Energy Solutions Arena in SLC. We were all excited to finally see our favorite Lakers ( Gasol for me!) When our tickets were rejected. So down to the ticket office we went to sort out the problem. Long story short, stubhub couldn't do anything at that time, so we had to buy new tickets and go to the game sitting in separate seats. It was hard sitting away from each other, but we both enjoyed the game, despite the fact that the Lakers lost.
( On a side note Stubhub renewed my faith in them. They refunded our tickets and got us tickets to another Jazz game free of charge. (more on that later)...)

California here we come!

After Christmas we braved the snow covered roads, the crying twins, and the annoying click-click of our sporadically functional turn signal and headed to the coast. After the 12 hour drive and the fast winding up the mountain ( puking child included) we arrived at Isaac's Uncle Darryl's home near Lake Arrowhead in California.

While there we enjoyed some fine Mexican cuisine, thanks to Uncles Darryl's knowledge in that department. We also visited the beach, and the boys had a blast! Eli and daddy ventured out onto a pier and saw seal basking in the sun, while I stayed beach side with the twins who went around grabbing handfuls of sand and trying to stuff it in their mouths. We then enjoyed a stroll down the boardwalk. The day ended with a trip to the largest mall we ever saw in our entire life! It had stores like Gucci, Armani, Fendi, Rolex, Coach, and many other high end places. Needless to say we felt out of place.

We spent the extended weekend getting to know Isaac's extended family ( since this was the first time the boys and I have ever met them). It was nice to relax and enjoy Aunt Kathy's wonderful cooking.
Our stay ended much the way it began, minus the puking child. And homeward we went enjoying In-N-Out burgers, a first for Isaac.

Christmas 2008

Christmas this year was a fun time. Eli got a bike and lots of DC comic action figures. Oliver and Emerson added to their ever growing little people collection.

Frosty

In December we got hammered with snow ( of course it wasn't anything like our Wisconsin winter last year, but it was still a lot). Anyway, all last year I promised Eli we would build a snowman but the snow just wasn't right, (that and taking two infants into the snow was not my idea of a good time). This year the snow was right and we had grandma and grandpa to help with the little guys, so Eli and I bundled up made a snowman. Eli enjoyed climbing the big piles of snow and helping mom put our Frosty together.
