2 Lessons learned

For those of you not on Facebook:
The other day I learned two valuable lessons.
1. If I see one of my children, especially if it Oliver or Emerson, with a box of cereal seize it immediately!
2. Do not bother to vacuum stairs, because in less than 24 hours later they will be messier than they were in the first place. (see picture below)

Thanks to my friends they did point out the advantages to this escapade. Now I don't have to feed them snacks or breakfast the next morning, just let them loose on the stairs.
(My mom was a sweetie and re-vacuumed for me!

( I should also add that both twins in their greedy desire for more cereal came a tumbling down the stairs and Oliver is now sporting a nice rug burn on his cheek. So he did literally fall down the stairs)

He plays the Violin

Mom Frisbie brought out this antique family violin for Eli when she came out last week (see below post for fun happenings during their stay). So we decided to go ahead and get Eli into violin lessons to keep the excitement coming, luckily we have a fabulous violin player/teacher in our ward that was willing to take Eli on as a student. So yesterday we went and rented him an 1/8 size violin. He is so excited to play and has shown everyone that has stopped by. Today he learned how to properly hold the bow and violin. Here are a few pictures of him with his violin.

Playing his violin for us.

Getting Ready to head out to his first violin lesson.

Look forward in the coming weeks for more pictures and videos!

Frisbies Converge

Last week we had a mini Frisbie Family Reunion here is Utah. Mom and Dad Frisbie came from Illinois, Darryl came down from Idaho, and Isaac's Uncle Darryl, Aunt Kathy and cousins Tyler and Meghan came from California. We were able to go to the Oquirrh Moutain Temple Open house. It was a beautiful place and Eli loved being able see the inside of the temple, and the sealing rooms where people are married. He also enjoyed the cookie afterward. We finally got to see latest Harry Potter and go swimming at the Marriott pool. The twins didn't care for the pool too much and clung to me for dear life. They didn't mind soaking their feet in the hot tub, while mom soaked int he warmth. We also ventured into SLC to temple square and some of the best BBQ I have ever had at Pats.
On Thursday we went to Bridal Veil Falls where I tried not to freak out too much when my boys got close tot he water. Mom and Dad Frisbie stayed with the twins while the rest of us hiked up to the falls. It was beautiful and Eli loved playing in the pool of water at the bottom. Overall it was a tiring week but we enjoyed spending time with our family.

Eli's Marriage Proposal

Eli has his future bride all lined out. My dear friend Corissa has a daughter named Kindelle that Eli has played with a few times. Well he has decided that she is the one and only girl for him. (They recently moved out of our ward) So the other day Corissa was at my house after girls camp and Eli walked up her and informed her that he was going to marry Kindelle. Phew, at least that part of his life is taken care of.

Why, why, why

Oh the ingenuity of a 5 year old. Tonight I has just bathed the twins and taken them to their room when Eli entered the bathroom to go potty. I should of been observant enough to notice he had brought his sonic slushy with him. So I got the twins dressed and ready for bed, but need their toothbrushes which were in the bathroom. I go to the door and Eli is just coming out and shuts the door rather quickly behind him (not a good sign these days). I ask him what is wrong and he tells me nothing but won't let me open the door (hmmmm something is not right). Being bigger and stronger than him I open the door and all over the bathroom floor is water and bits of strawberry (from his slushy). In the middle of it is his brand new large bottle of blue bubbles, open with bits of strawberry on it as well. I quickly deduced that he tried to mix the two (slushy and bubbles) made a mess and tried to clean it up with my hand towel soaked in water. Oh the mess he made. When I asked him Why??? He simply said "I wanted to see what it would do". He did try to clean it up...but Why, why, why?

Bye, Bye Long Locks! Hello Mullet and Short Hair

Isaac occationally gets the idea in his head to grow his hair out, and I go along with it because when it gets long it gets wavy and looks really nice. So Isaac had been working on his locks for about 9 months when he finally decided that he had enough with the long hair and gave me permission to cut it, which I did with bitter sweet feelings. Anyway he promised his co-workers he would cut it into a mullet before cutting it all away, so that is what I did. (although he only had a mullet for like 5 minutes, but I still got a picture of it. So here are the before, middle and after pictures, and boy did he have a lot of hair!

One of those Days

So most days in my life are busy but not too bad on the motherhood scale, but yesterday ranked up there. Let me explain the situations that occurred. Yesterday was day one of our mini family reunion, my oldest brother and his family flew in with their children and Eli was SOOOO excited to see his cousins. So while my Dad and I were in the midst of cleaning and preparing for the event my boys were downstairs playing very well.
  • When I came down to check on them I noticed a pungent aroma in the air and knew that one of the twins needed to be changed, so I got the stuff, laid the boy down, Emerson I think. Got the diaper off and bum cleaned. Well at this point Emerson had enough and wiggled his way free and ran away. As I was getting up to chase him down he squats and pees on the floor, how nice of him to do this before I get the diaper on. So that is number one.
  • On to the next thing, well I thought that I would be a nice mother and make a fort for the kids, since Eli is constantly asking me to do so. So I get the chairs and blankets and make a cool fort, I really should of taken a picture because I was pretty impressed with myself. Of course the twins can only take hanging blankets for so long before they get torn down much to big brothers despair. After about the third or fourth time Eli decided a fort wasn't a good idea and thought that making the "Tower of Babel" would be more fun to do. So once again while I am cleaning he takes all the blankets and chairs and forms his Tower of Babel. (Thank you scripture scouts for teaching my son about this scripture story.) See picture below for his amazing building skills. I must admit that it was quite impressive, dangerous but impressive. Thankfully I stopped Eli before he had his brother Oliver climb up the "Tower". Oh the creativity of a five year old.
  • By this time in the day it is time for dinner, so the boys and I go upstairs to put the finishing touched on, (thank goodness for crock pots!). I started to make some egg noodles, when I noticed it was a little too quiet, (don't you hate those moments). Now let me set the scene for you and give you a little background before I continue. My parents have three couches in the living room, all with an enormous amount of pillows on them that the twins like to take off on a daily basis (remember we had just gotten everything spic and span by this point). I went into the living room to check on them and guess what I saw, yep the pillows had been thrown off the couch and the twins decided to decorate the fallen pillows with soil from the plant, that they normally leave alone, on the coffee table. Oh would this day every end!! Buy wait there is more...
  • After dinner it was bath and bedtime which can get hectic especially if I am by myself. Usually I handle it just fine, but it had already been a long day so I just wanted to lay them down and have some quiet time. So the bath went fine and I got the twins out and dried off, and diapers ready to put on. Anyone with twins can tell you that they sometime run in opposite directions and getting both of them to lay still while you diapering and dressing is nearly impossible. So as I was getting Emerson diapered since he already had marked his territory for the day, Oliver runs in the opposite direction squats and pees. (What is the deal, seriously!!!!!) But they finally it was bedtime and off to dream land they went. Meanwhile....
  • Eli had gathered 4- 2 litter bottles of soda that we had inside and took them outside and removed the lids. When I asked him what he was doing he told me that he wanted to see them shoot up. I wonder where he got that idea. Thankfully all the soda he wasted was about to get thrown out anyway, but it was still a pain to clean up. I later found my salt and pepper shakers outside too, and it was raining.
  • I was done at this point, so I kindly asked him to come inside and get ready for bed. But instead of going to bed he wanted to "decorate" for his cousins. Mind you the house was clean. Below is a picture of how he decorated. (On the banister are those mini-bathroom cups).
So it was just one of those days, where one thing after another. By themselves they are small and insignificant but when you pile them in on one day, it wears you down.
